Our third day consisted of learning about the process of creating a lesson plan, which was a good review for me.

In our groups, we came up with the best way of learning various activities. This exercise helped me understand the importance of not relying on a single tool. For example, we discussed that to learn how to cook a North Indian Curry dish, an effective approach would be to attend a cooking class. However, I realized afterwards that a combination of multiple learning tools would increase my efficiency, as well as depth of learning. Specifically, with the cooking example, many cooks such as Jamie Oliver has their own cooking shows with corresponding cook books which include dishes from each episode. Thus, an effective way of learning would be to first watch the show and perhaps take notes, and to afterwards go through the process of cooking as I read through the corresponding recipe in the cook book. Similarly, in a classroom it's important to use multiple approaches to facilitate the learning of a skill or knowledge, in order to accomodate the variety of learning preferences of learners. This way, students will be exposed to the same outcome in different ways, leading them to develop a more three dimensional understanding.
